    I am a legal research and writing attorney who works as an independent contractor for criminal defense attorneys.  I began my present law practice in 2001.  Earlier in my career I spent fourteen years working as a criminal defense trial attorney.  During that time I worked as a deputy public defender in Yuba and Solano counties, and in private practice in Contra Costa and Sacramento counties.

    I am particularly interested in the technical aspects of legal argument both in terms of logic and the doctrine of precedent.  Some of my published articles are in these areas.

    While most of my work is for criminal defenses attorneys, I am sometimes hired by individual litigants to work on appeals or trial briefs.  I have also done a project for a public defender office.  For a more detailed explanation of my work click on the "Professional Services" link on the left.
